Paragon Employee Receives Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
On August 25, 2011 Paragon Employee, Adrian Skrzycki, was awarded his PMP, Project Management Professional, Certification by the Project Management Institute.
Since joining Paragon Business Solutions, Inc. in 2009 he has successfully managed several US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Projects at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri and has received Outstanding Customer Ratings for his efforts.
Adrian is a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania who began in the construction industry as a Journeyman Union Carpenter working on high profile projects in New York City and Los Angeles.
Recognized early in his career for his leadership abilities, he quickly rose through the ranks and was promoted to a leadership position in his trade—successfully managing multi-million dollar projects in the country’s two biggest construction markets.
With his sights set on becoming recognized officially as a Project Manager, he enrolled in Boston University’s Project Management Program with the help and encouragement of Paragon Leadership.
Studying nights and weekends while working full time, the program entailed six months of intensive training covering aspects of project management such as time, cost, risk, and quality–preparing him for the four hour 200 question examination.
Paragon applauds this excellent personal achievement. These skills will further help Paragon to provide the results-driven, value-added construction management services clients have come to expect.
Paragon Honors Veteran Employees
Paragon understands and appreciates the importance of veterans in protecting our country and its freedom and honors all Veterans by saying thank you and acknowledging their contributions each day. Five Paragon employees share this in this rich heritage of serving our country. We are proud to introduce our veterans – spanning from Vietnam to Operation Enduring Freedom – who now serve you at Paragon:
Frank “Bud” Beechner was Commander in the Navy and served during Vietnam. He spent time in Japan, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Guam – not to mention numerous duty stations from California to Virginia during his 20 year career. Bud earned many special medals and commendations during his military career to include the Navy Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal (with 2 stars), and Meritorious Unit Commendation.
Jessica Miles was a Human Resource specialist in the Army for four years and supported Operation Enduring Freedom. She deployed to Kosovo from 2001 to 2002 and earned the Kosovo Campaign Medal for her service. Jessica also earned other medals to include the NATO Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and Army Achievement Medal.
Bryan Pitman served in both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Army Reserves as a Nuclear Biological Chemical Specialist. He fought in Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2005-2006. During Bryan's collective nine years in the military, he earned the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, and the Combat Action Badge.
Paragon Sponsors MATHCOUNTS Competition
Not only is Paragon interested in the quality and environment of future generations, they're also interested in their aspiring minds. When approached by the Society of American Military Engineers, Paragon agreed to show their support of budding mathematicians by sponsoring MATHCOUNTS at the Rolla Middle School. Over 35 children are involved in the Rolla chapter of MATHCOUNTS which is a national enrichment club and competition program that promotes middle school mathematic achievement. At the competition level, students work though a series of challenging math problems both individually and as teams. Through Paragon's sponsorship, Rolla Middle School students will be given additional study materials, money to cover transportation costs, and t-shirts to wear during competitions. The Rolla MATHCOUNTS chapter has historically competed quite well, so Paragon awaits good news!
Paragon aides in Tornado Recovery
A tornado landed at Fort Leonard Wood around 9:30 AM on the last day of 2010. The storm disrupted power, damaged gas lines, shut off water, and worst, damaged or destroyed more than 150 homes. Paragon employees, in conjunction with the Environmental Division of Fort Leonard Wood Directorate of Public Works (DPW), were right in the thick of it. Exhibiting their environmental expertise, Paragon employees helped by assessing debris and damaged buildings, preparing environmental documentation, and assisting with oversight of debris haul off areas. Paragon employees also donated much-needed household goods to the displaced families.
Thankfully, although much devastation took place, storm recovery couldn't have been better because of the generous support Fort Leonard Wood received. The Director of Public Works expressed his sincerest appreciation for the superior work the DPW team and greater DPW team performed in support of the storm damage recovery. The Secretary of the Army, IMCOM General, and other VIP visitors were simply amazed at the rapid response.
As General David Quantock said, "... we have the greatest community surrounding a military post in the United States, and it sure comes through when you have a disaster like we suffered yesterday."
