Role of Firm:
The Paragon-WMC team provided complete mechanical and electrical rehabilitation of Building 315 at Fort Leonard Wood (FLW) to serve as the headquarters for the FLW area Judge Advocate General (JAG) Corps.
Brief Description of Project:
The scope of this project included the complete mechanical and electrical rehabilitation of Building 315, at FLW. Building 315 is a 1960s style masonry “rolling pin” barracks that was previously converted to office space. The existing mechanical system was a two-pipe system which allowed for only heating or cooling at one time. While the building was occupied, Paragon-WMC installed a four-pipe system with complete equipment upgrades and maintained climate control. Upon completion of the mechanical scope, the entire interior of the building was remodeled to accommodate 100 offices, including 18 new offices, the new FLW Tax Center, and a JAG Courtroom. Building 315 is now the headquarters for the FLW area JAG Corps.
This project represents the Paragon-WMC team’s ability to execute challenging mechanical, electrical, and architectural task orders in an occupied space, meeting the customer/end users’ needs for office and operational resources with no temporary facilities available. The critical need for office space at FLW required the team begin this project without a 100% design package and execute in an occupied space, which required full operational capabilities and climate control through several changing seasons. The team’s ongoing relationships with the FLW Directorate of Public Works (DPW) Design and Operations branches, and United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) FLW area office allowed for quick resolution to multiple challenges associated with this project.
By utilizing the resources of the USACE-FLW area office, site management and the Resident Management System/Quality Control System (RMS/QCS) software, Paragon-WMC established excellent communication with the former end user and the incoming JAG personnel. Precise logistical coordination of relocating multiple Army personnel made it imperative that the team meet or exceed delivery milestones. The full-time, on site management and support from the field team allowed Paragon-WMC to deliver a high quality product, on schedule and on budget.
